Tensions escalate as U.S. forces mobilize amid Iran’s unrest and regional military buildup

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated following widespread anti-government protests in Iran and a subsequent U.S. military buildup. President Donald Trump, who recently urged Iranians to seize control of state institutions, announced the arrival of a “massive armada” led by the USS Abraham Lincoln. While the Trump administration hosts defense officials from Israel and Saudi Arabia to discuss potential military strikes, Iran has responded by inducting 1,000 strategic combat drones into its military formations.

As the risk of conflict grows, neighboring countries have called for de-escalation, explicitly stating that their territories must not be used for military actions against Iran. Amid these rising tensions, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to meet with his Turkish counterpart in Ankara today. Türkiye is expected to emphasize the importance of regional stability and dialogue to resolve the current crisis.
