At the Hangzhou Asian Games, Qin Haiyang secured China’s 100th gold medal with his fifth title in the men’s 50m breaststroke, while Zhang Yufei added to her collection with a sixth gold in the women’s 50m butterfly. Qin clocked 26.35 seconds, followed by teammate Sun Jiajun and South Korean Choi Dongyeol. Zhang set a Games record in the 50m butterfly, with Yu Yiting in second and Japan’s Rikako Ikee in third. Other Chinese swimmers excelled, including Li Bingjie and Xu Jiayu. China achieved a record 28 golds, 21 silvers, and 9 bronzes in swimming. Zheng Qinwen won her first Asiad gold in tennis, and Jason Jung and Hsu Yu-hsiou of Chinese Taipei took men’s doubles gold. The finals in men’s singles and doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles are yet to come. Both Zheng and Zhu have their sights set on the Paris Olympics.
