Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from California, was charged on Monday with attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump following a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. Allen, who traveled to Washington, D.C., with multiple firearms and knives, allegedly targeted administration officials and exchanged gunfire with law enforcement at a security checkpoint, injuring a Secret Service officer. Following the evacuation of the President and top officials, prosecutors revealed that Allen had expressed his violent intent via email prior to the attack. This incident marks another significant instance of political violence targeting Trump, following several previous assassination attempts.
