The Supreme Court’s ruling, delivered in a 6-3 decision authored by Chief Justice John Roberts, declared that Trump cannot be prosecuted for actions within his constitutional powers as president. This landmark decision recognized a form of presidential immunity from prosecution for the first time. The conservative justices were in the majority, while the three liberal justices dissented.
