Strait of Hormuz evacuation plan detailed as US-Iran technical talks set to resume

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has initiated a large-scale evacuation plan for more than 11,000 seafarers stranded in the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing instability linked to the US–Iran conflict. Vessels have been instructed to remain in position while coordinated transit routes are established through Iranian waters and a US–Oman-managed corridor to ensure safe passage and prevent congestion.

Meanwhile, maritime traffic and oil flows through the region are gradually normalizing, contributing to stabilizing crude prices. Separately, the United States and Iran are preparing for technical-level negotiations in Switzerland later this month, focusing on nuclear issues and sanctions relief.

However, disagreements persist over nuclear inspections, with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) remaining divided on access to sensitive facilities.
