Rescuers in the Philippines are searching for dozens of missing people as the death toll from Tropical Storm Trami rose to 110. The storm, which struck on October 24, displaced over 575,000 people, submerged villages, and left 42 people still missing. The hardest-hit area is Camarines Sur in the Bicol region, where President Ferdinand Marcos has promised aid.
Trami also made landfall in Vietnam on October 27, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. It caused three deaths and significant damage in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue provinces, leading to evacuations and airport closures. Climate change has been linked to storms intensifying more quickly and lasting longer in the Asia-Pacific region.
