The fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal has led to high-profile resignations in the UK and Norway. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, stepped down after facing criticism over Starmer’s appointment of former Labour politician Peter Mandelson—later dismissed—whose ties to Epstein sparked a political uproar.
In Norway, Ambassador Mona Juul resigned over her contacts with Epstein, with Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide calling it a “serious failure of judgment.” The ministry continues an internal review, including scrutiny of Juul’s husband Terje Rod-Larsen’s links to Epstein through the International Peace Institute.
Separately, Norway’s anti-corruption authority, Okokrim, opened an investigation into former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland over potential aggravated corruption, based on newly released Epstein-related documents.
