At an upcoming summit, China and Central Asian countries plan to deepen cooperation, expand the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and build a stronger shared future. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Central Asia, where the BRI was first proposed, is now a leader in high-quality collaboration. All five Central Asian nations have signed BRI deals with China, leading to major projects like oil and gas pipelines, highways, and a new railway, improving regional connectivity. Trade between China and Central Asia reached a record $94 billion in 2024, more than double the 2013 level. Cooperation now also includes digital economy, green development, and cultural exchanges, such as visa-free travel and educational programs like the Luban Workshops.
