A special screening of the Chinese film Once Upon A Time In The Middle East was held on Wednesday at J Cineplex in Junction City, Yangon. The event was attended by officials from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, representatives from the Myanmar-China Friendship Association and Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation, as well as members of the Chinese-Myanmar community, artists, students and other guests.
Directed by Wen Muye and starring Shen Teng and Jiang Qiming, the film combines comedy and drama to explore human compassion, love and friendship amid the realities of war. It follows Xu Fu, a chef who moves to the Middle East to work at a Chinese restaurant and support his family, but struggles to keep the restaurant running as conflict and political turmoil intensify.
The screening highlighted the role of cinema and cultural exchanges in promoting mutual understanding and strengthening friendly ties between the peoples of China and Myanmar.
