Spanish PM urges EU unity over Ceuta migrant crisis

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on the European Union to hold an emergency meeting of interior ministers to coordinate a response to the recent migrant crisis in Ceuta.

Sanchez said around 50,000 migrants entered the Spanish enclave illegally, but Spain restored border control within 48 hours and returned most migrants to Morocco with support from EU partners. He criticized some European countries for attacking Spain instead of showing solidarity, calling for a united EU approach to border protection.

The crisis reportedly left at least 67 people dead, while more than 48,000 migrants were returned to Morocco.
