Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Wednesday called for peace amid the escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, rejecting threats from President Donald Trump after Spain refused to allow US bases on its territory to be used in the fighting. Speaking from the Palacio de la Moncloa, Sanchez said Spain would not yield to reprisals, highlighting the country’s economic and moral strength. He emphasized a clear and consistent position, respecting international law, opposing military escalation, and rejecting the use of force as a solution, stating Spain’s stance as “no to war.” Sanchez warned that a conflict with Iran would not create a fairer international order but would instead increase economic uncertainty and push up energy prices.
