South Korean President Lee Jae-myung paid his first visit to Japan since taking office in June, meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Saturday, according to NHK. The two leaders agreed to strengthen ties through closer security communication and cooperation in emerging fields like hydrogen energy and artificial intelligence. They also decided to set up an intergovernmental framework to address shared issues, including regional revitalization, aging populations, and disaster prevention. In addition, both sides pledged to expand the working holiday visa program to encourage more exchanges between their citizens. Lee is set to depart for the United States on Sunday, where he will hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.
