Tornadoes, wildfires, and dust storms swept across the United States this weekend, leaving at least 37 dead. The National Weather Service reported that while tornado watches had mostly expired, dangerous winds persisted in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida.
In central Alabama, three people, including an 82-year-old woman, were killed by tornadoes, forcing the closure of a storm-damaged recreation center. Missouri saw at least a dozen deaths from scattered twisters, while Arkansas confirmed three fatalities. Experts noted that such extreme weather, though severe, is not uncommon for March.
