ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn affirmed that the one-China principle is reflected in the foreign policies of all 11 member states, describing it as a consistent and unequivocal collective position. Speaking in an interview on January 12, he emphasized ASEAN’s commitment to regional peace and stability through dialogue, diplomacy and constructive engagement.
Kao highlighted that the ASEAN Charter upholds sovereignty and territorial integrity, and noted that strong relations with China have supported steady progress in trade, energy, digital economy and people-to-people exchanges, contributing to long-term regional stability and prosperity.
