SCO rejects any unilateral, coercive measures

At their 24th Heads of Government meeting, SCO member states issued a joint communique rejecting unilateral and coercive measures that violate international law or hinder global cooperation. They pledged to uphold an open, fair, and non-discriminatory multilateral trading system, support reforms to global financial governance, and strengthen the voice of developing countries. Acknowledging major shifts in global politics and the growing prominence of the Global South, they voiced concern over rising economic fragmentation and reaffirmed support for improving global economic governance and preserving the WTO-centered trading system. The communique commits members to building an open regional economic space with smooth trade, supply chains, transport, and financial flows, while guaranteeing energy security through a balanced mix of fossil fuels, renewables, hydropower, hydrogen, and peaceful nuclear cooperation. The SCO also backed UN reforms to increase developing-country representation and emphasized that regional and global issues should not be approached through bloc politics. Member states reiterated support for a more just international order based on mutual respect, fairness, cooperation, and a shared future for humanity.
