South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol will comply with legal proceedings if indicted or if a preliminary detention warrant is issued, his defense counsel stated. This follows the extension of an arrest warrant against the impeached president. While rejecting the validity of the current warrant, Yoon’s team insists any detention should be authorized by the Seoul Central District Court. Yoon denies fleeing the presidential residence, dismissing such claims as slander. The impeachment motion passed in December suspends Yoon’s presidential powers during the constitutional court’s review. Investigators accuse him of leading an insurrection attempt in early December.
