Fan Zhendong won the men’s singles title at China’s 15th National Games in Macao on Sunday, defeating World No. 2 Lin Shidong 4–1 in the final. The victory gives the 28-year-old Olympic champion his second major title since stepping away from ITTF world rankings and makes him only the second player after Ma Long to defend the National Games singles crown.
Lin, eight years younger, took one game but was outmatched as Fan dominated the remaining rounds. The gold is Fan’s 10th National Games medal, the most among active Chinese players. Wang Chuqin claimed bronze after beating Yuan Licen.
