Russia’s state space corporation Roscosmos announced that flight tests of four Ionosfera-M satellites have been successfully completed, clearing the way for their official commissioning. The satellites are part of the Ionozond space system, designed to study physical processes in Earth’s ionosphere.
According to Roscosmos, the system will enable research into ionospheric structure, electromagnetic field fluctuations, atmospheric composition, ozone distribution in the upper atmosphere, and radiation monitoring. The first two satellites were launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in November 2024, with the second pair following in July 2025, both aboard Soyuz-2.1b rockets.
