Race against floods in China’s typhoon-hit Fujian

Typhoon Saudel has brought heavy rain and severe flooding to parts of Putian City in Fujian Province, trapping residents in their homes and leaving some people missing. The city received more than 416 millimeters of rain in just two days, breaking its September rainfall record.

Rescue teams are using boats to evacuate people from flooded villages, including elderly residents and a patient who needs a ventilator. Food and drinking water are also being delivered. More than a dozen rescue teams are working across different areas, but deep water and poor drainage are making the operation difficult.
