Xi Jinping has called for full rescue efforts after a deadly explosion at a fireworks factory in Liuyang on Monday afternoon. He urged authorities to search for missing people, treat the injured, investigate the cause quickly, and hold those responsible accountable.
The blast happened at around 4:40 p.m. at a fireworks plant in Hunan Province and caused heavy casualties. Xi also called for stronger safety inspections and tighter risk control in key industries to prevent similar accidents.
Li Qiang also urged stricter workplace safety measures, while China’s Ministry of Emergency Management sent a team to assist with rescue and relief operations.
