President Xi urges all-out rescue work after central China fireworks plant explosion causes heavy casualties

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for full rescue efforts after a deadly explosion at a fireworks plant in Liuyang, Hunan Province.

The blast occurred Monday afternoon and caused heavy casualties. Xi urged authorities to search for missing people, treat the injured, investigate the cause quickly, and hold those responsible accountable.

Premier Li Qiang also called for stronger workplace safety measures in high-risk industries to prevent similar major accidents. Rescue teams from China’s emergency management authorities have been sent to the site, and response efforts are ongoing.
