This medal, the highest state honor for foreigners, recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to China’s modernization and international cooperation.
In her speech, Rousseff emphasized the strong ties between Brazil and China, noting her role in establishing Brazil as the first Latin American country to form a comprehensive strategic partnership with China. She praised China’s economic and technological advancements and highlighted its efforts in addressing global challenges like climate change and promoting multilateralism. Rousseff reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation across various fields, particularly through the New Development Bank, established in 2014.
