At the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the UN Fourth World Conference on Women, Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China’s commitment to women’s development. He proposed joint efforts to foster an enabling environment, strengthen high-quality advancement, protect women’s rights, and promote global cooperation. To support these goals, Xi announced major financial commitments over five years, including an additional $10 million donation to UN Women and $100 million from the Global Development Fund for women’s and girls’ projects. China will also support 1,000 livelihood projects, invite 50,000 women for training, and establish a center for global women’s capacity-building. Foreign dignitaries, including UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, welcomed the initiatives and stressed the need to uphold the 1995 Beijing Declaration and strengthen cooperation toward the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
