President Xi Jinping says China-Russia relationship model of major-country ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in China on Tuesday during the SCO Summit and events marking the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II. Xi said China-Russia ties have become an example of major-country relations, highlighting permanent friendship, strategic coordination, and mutually beneficial cooperation.

He called for stronger high-level exchanges, deeper integration of interests, and resilience in joint projects. Xi stressed that the two leaders’ participation in WWII commemorations shows their responsibility as victorious nations and UN Security Council members, as well as their determination to safeguard historical truth.

Xi also promoted his Global Governance Initiative, urging cooperation with like-minded countries to uphold the UN Charter and build a fairer international system. He emphasized closer coordination between China and Russia in multilateral platforms such as the UN, SCO, BRICS, and G20 to advance the goal of a shared future for humanity.
