Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for upholding international fairness and justice, remaining committed to peaceful development, and continuously working to improve people’s well-being. He made the remarks at a reception in Beijing commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Xi said the victory marked a turning point for the Chinese nation, taking it from crisis in modern times to the path of rejuvenation, and also represented a major shift in world history. He stressed that the achievement was the result of the joint struggle of the Chinese people and anti-fascist allies, and he expressed gratitude to foreign governments and international friends who supported China’s resistance.
Highlighting the importance of harmony and cooperation, Xi urged countries to learn from history, reject power politics, and work together to advance world modernization. He said Chinese modernization is based on peaceful development and will continue to serve as a stabilizing force globally.
The reception was attended by foreign leaders and their spouses, and featured a cultural performance watched by Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan.
