During the closing ceremony of the sixth meeting of the China-France Business Council in Paris, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed China’s readiness to elevate exchanges and cooperation with France, aiming to advance the China-France relationship to a new level. As 2022 marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Xi emphasized the significance of deepening future ties.
Xi outlined plans to enrich the economic and trade aspects of the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership, highlighting initiatives such as enhancing the “French farm to Chinese dining table” coordination mechanism to bring more French agricultural products to Chinese households. Additionally, China extended its visa-free policy for short-term visits for citizens of 12 countries, including France, until 2025.
Xi urged joint efforts to deepen China-Europe cooperation, emphasizing opposition to politicizing business relations. He pledged further openness in China’s service sector and market to create more opportunities for French and European companies.
Recognizing China and France’s roles as major UN Security Council members, Xi called for increased leadership in global governance and advocated for true multilateralism. He emphasized China’s ongoing reforms and market opening-up, inviting French entrepreneurs to participate in China’s modernization process and benefit from its development opportunities.
