Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday, reaffirming China’s commitment to advancing its strategic partnership with Nepal. Xi praised Oli’s dedication to strengthening bilateral ties, noting that the two countries share deep historical and cultural connections. Xi emphasized China’s support for Nepal’s development path and its sovereignty, offering assistance for Nepal’s economic growth and encouraging Chinese investments. He also pledged continued cooperation in areas like transportation, power grids, and the Belt and Road Initiative. Oli expressed Nepal’s readiness to deepen ties with China and reaffirmed Nepal’s adherence to the one-China principle. The two leaders also signed a joint statement.
