At the Central Urban Work Conference held in Beijing, President Xi Jinping outlined the future direction of China’s urban development, emphasizing quality, efficiency, and a people-centered approach. With urbanization now covering 67% of the population, Xi stressed that China’s focus is shifting from rapid expansion to enhancing the livability, resilience, and sustainability of cities.
The conference called for the creation of modern, innovative, and smart cities that are culturally rich, green, and socially inclusive. Key priorities include improving urban governance, promoting low-carbon and aesthetic development, boosting public services, and ensuring safety and resilience.
Xi also reaffirmed the Communist Party’s central leadership in urban planning, while Premier Li Qiang delivered the closing remarks, highlighting the CPC’s commitment to building cities that truly serve the people.
