Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with a visiting delegation of U.S. senators in Beijing on Thursday, reaffirming China’s commitment to implementing the consensus reached between the two nations’ leaders. Li emphasized that mutual respect and win-win cooperation are essential for the two major powers to coexist successfully. He called for increased dialogue over confrontation and urged both sides to maintain stable, predictable economic and trade relations that benefit both peoples.
During the meeting, Li underscored that the Taiwan question remains China’s primary red line and must be handled with extreme prudence. He expressed hope that the U.S. Congress would focus on the broader picture of bilateral friendship and play a constructive role in fostering a sustainable relationship. By prioritizing cooperation over zero-sum competition, Li noted that both countries could provide much-needed certainty and positive energy to the global community.
