Chinese Premier Li Qiang said Wednesday that deeper China-Germany cooperation is the best way to manage risks and ensure security, as he met German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a symposium of the China-Germany economic advisory committee in Beijing.
Li said that amid global economic uncertainty, closer cooperation between the two major economies has boosted both countries and supported global growth. He noted positive recovery momentum in both economies and said the 15th Five-Year Plan period offers broader room for trade and investment cooperation.
He called for joint efforts in three areas: strengthening traditional sectors such as machinery and chemicals; expanding innovation cooperation, including research and third-party markets; and improving the business environment through greater openness and fair treatment for enterprises on both sides.
Merz said Germany values its strong trade ties with China and supports deeper cooperation in automobiles, chemicals, machinery, renewable energy and the digital economy. He added that Germany welcomes more Chinese investment and will continue improving its business climate to promote long-term bilateral stability and growth.
