China’s Meridian Project, the second phase of its ground-based space environment monitoring network, is in the joint debugging and trial operation stage. The project comprises 16 stations, 58 observation points, and 195 sets of space weather monitoring equipment, aiming to be the world’s largest comprehensive space environment monitoring network. Once completed, it will support more precise space weather forecasts. The first phase, operational since 2012, covers 120 degrees east longitude and 30 degrees north latitude. The second phase, initiated in 2019, expands coverage with 16 stations along 100 degrees east longitude and 40 degrees north latitude, forming a comprehensive monitoring network. The project is a significant national-level science and technology infrastructure in space science.
