Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a televised interview that following the June 2025 Iran-Israel war, foreign powers, including the United States and Israel, are allegedly directing rioters and terrorists to destabilize the country. He urged the public to distance themselves from the unrest and highlighted government efforts to reform subsidies, stabilize the market, and strengthen supply chain oversight.
Iranian authorities reported arrests of key participants in the riots, including about 200 “terrorist leaders and operation commanders,” and the seizure of weapons such as grenades and Molotov cocktails. Security officials said eight personnel were killed during riot-control operations, while rioters reportedly burned 26 homes and carried out arson attacks on mosques, banks, shopping malls, and government buildings.
The unrest initially erupted amid rising prices and currency depreciation, and Iranian officials have blamed foreign interference for exacerbating the violence.
