Lawmakers in Peru approved the government’s new slate of ministers after Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen pledged billions in new spending. The vote, with 70 in favor, 36 against, and 17 abstaining, supports Adrianzen’s position. His spending plan includes $4.6 billion for mining and $8 billion for public-private partnerships. Adrianzen emphasized clean governance, economic growth, public order, and tackling drug trafficking. He expressed gratitude for the support and urged cooperation for economic revitalization and citizen security. This vote coincides with President Dina Boluarte facing investigation for alleged illegal enrichment and not declaring luxury watches. If the cabinet failed to win congressional backing, all ministers would have had to resign.
