OpenAI warned that its next-generation AI models could pose a high cybersecurity risk as their abilities grow. The company said future models may be capable of creating zero-day exploits or helping with complex cyber intrusions.
To reduce risks, OpenAI is strengthening its models for defensive cybersecurity, improving internal security measures, and adding tighter monitoring. It also plans to give qualified cyber-defense users controlled access to more advanced tools.
OpenAI will set up a Frontier Risk Council made up of security experts to advise the company, starting with cybersecurity and later expanding to other high-risk areas.
