Tragic news emerged from Finland as one child was killed and two others were seriously injured in a shooting outside the Finnish capital. The suspect, a 12-year-old fellow pupil, was swiftly apprehended within an hour of the incident. Police disclosed that the suspect was in possession of a handgun during the arrest, which occurred without further complications.
Currently, there are no other suspects identified, and all involved parties are reported to be 12-year-old pupils from Viertola school. In initial interrogations, the suspect confessed to the assault. Due to their age, the suspect cannot be placed in custody but will be handed over to social services.
Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and other officials expressed deep shock over the tragic event. Viertola school, serving 800 pupils with a staff of 90, is located in the city of Vantaa.
