An attack occurred in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The assailant, a known radical Islamist with a history of mental illness, attacked a couple of foreign tourists. The victim who died was a German tourist born in the Philippines. French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced the assailant’s arrest. The attacker, a Frenchman born in 1997, had previously been sentenced to four years in prison in 2016 for planning another attack that he did not carry out. French anti-terror prosecutors are investigating the killing. President Emmanuel Macron expressed condolences, labeling the incident a “terror attack,” while Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne emphasized a commitment to not giving in to terrorism.
