Israel announced it will provide tents and other shelter equipment for Gaza residents starting Sunday, ahead of relocating civilians from combat zones in northern Gaza to the south. The plan comes as Israel prepares a new offensive to seize Gaza City, raising global concern over the safety of the enclave’s 2.2 million residents.
The UN welcomed Israel’s decision to allow shelter equipment into Gaza but warned that forced relocations would worsen suffering, as no area is truly safe. Palestinian groups condemned the move, calling it a violation of international law.
Meanwhile, Israeli bombardments intensified around Gaza City, with heavy strikes in Zeitoun and Shejaia. Gaza’s civil defense said at least 40 people were killed Saturday, while tens of thousands remain trapped without food or water.
The UN warned of mass starvation, particularly among women and girls, urging Israel to lift its blockade and allow large-scale humanitarian aid. Protests are planned across Israel on Sunday, as ceasefire negotiations remain stalled despite U.S., Egyptian, and Qatari mediation efforts.
