Newly operated hydro-floating solar project showcases China-Thailand cooperation in clean energy

A hydro-floating solar project, jointly constructed by Chinese and Thai companies, has commenced commercial operations in Thailand’s Khon Kaen Province. The Ubolratana Dam hybrid power plant combines floating solar panels, hydropower, energy storage systems, and smart energy management. Dongfang Electric International Corporation, a major power equipment manufacturer, collaborated with a Thai partner on the project. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) lauded the early completion of the project, emphasizing its significance in advancing Thailand’s clean energy efforts. The Chinese Consul General in Khon Kaen expressed optimism that the project would enhance well-being in Northeast Thailand and represent a milestone in Chinese enterprise investment in the region. EGAT plans to develop more hydro-floating solar projects nationwide to promote clean energy.
