Neuralink’s first human patient able to control mouse through thinking, Musk says

Elon Musk announced that the first human patient implanted with a brain-chip from Neuralink has fully recovered and can control a computer mouse using their thoughts. The patient has shown no ill effects, and Musk mentioned the success during a social media event. Neuralink received approval for human trial recruitment in September, and the recent implantation was part of an effort to develop a brain-computer interface. Musk expressed optimism about the progress, aiming for applications beyond mouse control, including treating conditions such as obesity, autism, depression, and schizophrenia. Neuralink, valued at $5 billion last year, has faced scrutiny over safety protocols, including fines for violating U.S. Department of Transportation rules.
