Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel is facing “complicated days” as military operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon escalate. He urged Israelis to remain united during this campaign, asserting that Israel aims to change the security balance in the north.
The Israeli military has intensified airstrikes against Hezbollah, warning residents in the Bekaa Valley to steer clear of the group’s locations. Military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari noted that operations are being expanded to preempt potential attacks on Israel.
According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, Israeli airstrikes have targeted around 60 towns in southern and eastern Lebanon, resulting in 182 fatalities, including women, children, and paramedics. In response to the escalating violence, Lebanese education authorities announced the closure of schools in the eastern and southern regions, as well as in Beirut’s southern suburbs, for two days.
