Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to provide food and urgent medical care to hostages held in Gaza after disturbing videos showed two captives appearing severely emaciated. The ICRC condemned the videos and demanded access to the hostages.
Hamas’s armed wing said it would permit ICRC access only if humanitarian corridors for aid are opened throughout Gaza. While denying intentional starvation of hostages, Hamas rejected special treatment for them amid Gaza’s ongoing siege and shortages.
Recent videos of two hostages, Rom Braslavski and Evyatar David, have intensified Israeli calls for a ceasefire and hostage release. Tens of thousands demonstrated in Tel Aviv urging the government to secure the captives’ freedom.
