Nearly 20 countries, along with the League of Arab States and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, have condemned Israel’s recent decisions to expand control over the West Bank, calling the measures a flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.
In a joint statement, foreign ministers from countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan criticized plans to reclassify Palestinian land as Israeli “state land,” accelerate settlement activity and deepen Israeli administration in the occupied territory, warning the moves amount to de facto annexation and undermine peace efforts.
The statement urged Israel to reverse the decisions and reaffirmed support for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders. Earlier this month, Israel’s cabinet approved a proposal to register West Bank land as state property, a step seen as facilitating further settlement expansion.
