A NASA capsule, containing the largest-ever soil sample from an asteroid, safely landed in Utah after a six-year mission with the University of Arizona. The capsule separated from the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft, touched down west of Salt Lake City, and marked the third and largest asteroid sample return to Earth. The specimen was collected from the carbon-rich asteroid Bennu, classified as a “near-Earth object” with a low impact risk due to its small size compared to the asteroid that caused the dinosaur extinction.
