BYD has introduced a new fast-charging battery that can reach a top charging speed of 2 kilometers per second, providing a 407-kilometer range with just a five-minute charge. The battery supports a maximum charging power of 1 megawatt, 1-kilovolt voltage, and 1,000-ampere current, with a peak charging rate of 10 C. BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu emphasized the goal of achieving “oil-electric parity” to make EV charging as fast as refueling gas-powered cars. The company also plans to build over 4,000 fast-charging stations across China.
