Nangolo Mbumba was sworn in as the new president of Namibia following the passing of Hage Geingob, the previous president. The swearing-in ceremony also saw Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah assume the role of vice president. Nangolo Mbumba, a dedicated member of the SWAPO party, has had a notable career in various ministries, and he had been the second vice president since 2018. Hage Geingob, the late president, had a remarkable journey from anti-apartheid activist to statesman, serving as the first prime minister and third president of Namibia. Geingob passed away on February 4, 2024, after battling health issues, with cancerous cells being discovered earlier in January.
