More countries in solidarity with Mexico over Ecuadorian raid of embassy in Quito

MIKTA, a group comprising Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye, and Australia, expressed solidarity with Mexico following Ecuador’s police raid on its embassy in Quito. The group condemned the violence against Mexican diplomatic staff and highlighted the breach of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. Ecuador’s raid, aimed at arresting former Vice President Jorge Glas, led Mexico to sever ties with Ecuador. Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld vowed to defend her country’s account of the events.
