China and the European Union have reached an agreement on hybrid and electric vehicle trade, helping prevent further trade tensions, China’s Ministry of Commerce said on Monday. The agreement follows discussions in Beijing, where both sides addressed trade differences and agreed to follow the principles of fairness, non-discrimination and World Trade Organization rules.
According to Eurostat data cited by the ministry, the EU imported 107,000 hybrid vehicles from China in 2024 and 302,000 in 2025. The new arrangement allows Chinese exports to increase further while considering the concerns of industries on both sides. On electric vehicles, the EU will continue reviewing companies’ price commitments following its anti-subsidy case. China said the agreement would help create a more stable and predictable environment for bilateral trade and investment.
