Minister Counselor Cao Jing Attends the Seminar “The 15th Five-Year Plan: New Opportunities for China-Myanmar Cooperation in the Next Five Years”

On November 26th, the seminar “The 15th Five-Year Plan: New Opportunities for Myanmar-China Cooperation in the Next Five Years” was jointly held by Myanmar Office of China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) and Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) in Yangon. The event was attended by approximately 40 participants, including Minister Counselor Cao Jing of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Myanmar, MISIS Chairman U Thant Kyaw, and representatives from the political, business, and academic communities of both countries.

In her remarks, Cao Jing highlighted the significance of the recommendations for China’s 15th Five-Year Plan for both the world and Myanmar. She noted that the 15th Five-Year Plan will provide useful references for global development, inject new momentum into the world economy, and demonstrate the responsibility of a major nation in answering the questions of the times. She added that it will also bring opportunities for Myanmar-China Cooperation in areas such as access to China’s vast market, high-quality development, security collaboration, and the promotion of peace and stability.

U Thant Kyaw noted that Myanmar and China are neighbors that share “Pauk-Phaw” friendship. He said that the recommendations for China’s 15th Five-Year Plan will offer valuable references for Myanmar in policy making. He expressed hope that the two countries will strengthen exchanges and cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

Participants also engaged in dynamic discussions and offered suggestions on strengthening cooperation between China and Myanmar in areas such as economy, trade, investment, technology, education, and agriculture.
