A group of Middle Eastern and Asian governments and regional organizations issued a joint statement Sunday condemning remarks by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who said in an interview with Tucker Carlson that Israel has a “biblical right” to control the entire Middle East.
The statement was signed by the foreign ministries of United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria and State of Palestine, along with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, League of Arab States, and Gulf Cooperation Council.
They said the comments were dangerous, inflammatory, and a violation of international law and the UN Charter. The statement rejected any suggestion that Israel could claim sovereignty over Arab territories, including the West Bank, and warned such rhetoric threatens regional stability and peace prospects.
Separately, Iraq criticized the remarks as an infringement on state sovereignty. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei wrote on X that the comments showed U.S. complicity in Israel’s actions. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, and Egypt also issued individual condemnations.
The Palestinian Authority said Huckabee’s remarks contradict statements by U.S. President Donald Trump opposing Israeli annexation of the West Bank.
