A man attempted self-immolation near the White House on Friday during protests demanding a ceasefire as the Gaza conflict nears its one-year mark. He shouted, “I’m a journalist, and we neglect it, we spread the misinformation,” before bystanders and police intervened. The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is receiving treatment. This incident follows the self-immolation of U.S. Air Force member Aaron Bushnell earlier this year outside the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C., in protest of Israeli raids on Gaza.
